Cultural Explorations Summer Youth Camp

July 19-23, 2010

Open to students from 8 years to 14 years old.  Camp will be held from 9am to 3pm each day.  Pre-registration is required.  Cost is $35 per student. Campers will bridge the gap between the civil rights movement and a younger demographic, that are two generations removed from the movement. Their involvement will ensure that segregation, intolerance and injustice will continue to be challenged and virtually changed.  The fun filled week will allow campers to benefit from individual and small group learning whether they participate in creative activities, enriched on-site and off-site visitation or learning about local activists who participated in the movement.  Each day also includes a nice break from the heat while campers enjoy lunch provided by the Newsome House Museum.  Summer Camp is designed for boys and girls ages 6-12 who pre-register by July 1, 2010 by contacting the Newsome House Museum at (757) 247-2360.  All campers will be provided with a FUN PACK!!  Cost is $45 per camper.
