August 1 through November 9, 2009
"What I See" an exhibit by photographer, Burton Cardwell
A stunning exhibit of photographs by Burton Cardwell that include landscapes, vistas, and scenery of the Hampton Roads area and beyond.  Opening reception will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2009 from 2pm to 4pm.

 

November 14 through December 19, 2009
African American Trailblazers in Virginia History an exhibition from the Library of Virginia
This exhibit honors eight men and women of African decent who have made significant contributions to Virginia history and culture. The exhibit is sponsored by the Library of Virginia and Capital One.  Opening reception on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009 from 12 noon to 2pm will feature the screening of the documentary produced in conjunction with the exhibit. 

 

December 19, 2009 - March 29, 2010
"Buffalo Soldiers Series - Artwork by Ken Wright". 
This thought provoking series of artwork has as its focus, the Buffalo Soldiers.  Artist Ken Wright is a very successful artist and also is the president of the Buffalo Riders of Hampton Roads.  His art pieces are highly sought after and have been displayed in many museums and galleries throughout Hampton Roads.  This exhibit will continue through March 29, 2010.  Mr. Wright will be on hand at The Newsome House from 12 noon to 2pm on December 19, 2009. 

 "Weyanoke Association: Red & Black Heritage & Culture."

April 3, 2010 - June 30, 2010.
"Weyanoke Association: Red & Black Heritage & Culture." 
An exhibit that will highlight the Native American and African Connection, particularly in the Hampton Roads area. Opening reception will feature the music and storytelling of the Legacy of Weyanoke group.  Reception will be held on April 3, 2010 from 12 noon to 2pm.  Exhibit continues through June 30, 2010.
